Hongkong-Macau 7-day Itinerary

By kweneeeta - 4:34 PM

I just got back from my annual vacation abroad (this is a late post!) and this time I chose the world’s city—Hong Kong—as my next conquest. I also aside trip to the place famous for its casinos and free samples. As usual, I came up with an itinerary before embarking on this trip. However, as usual, I seem to also deviate from my plans—but, for the better.

Before I present my actual itinerary for this week-long Hong Kong-Macau trip, I want to give some tips to you—future adventurers:
  1. Study Hong Kong’s MTR and bus system. But actually, knowing the MTR system alone would already do you good. Hong Kong is very accessible. You can reach most places by taking the MTR. Hence, by carefully studying the system, you’d be able to go, see, and experience Hong Kong.
  2. Research on the places you want to visit. If you’re into museums, you might want to take note of the dates when admission is free (it’s usually on Wednesdays). It can save you a couple of bucks.
  3. Shopping and Bargaining. I think prices in the street markets of Hong Kong were still expensive; good thing I knew something about bargaining. You can usually cut the initial price and pay half, maybe even lower. Also, don’t buy on the first store you see. Go further in where you can get better deals. Like when buying souvenir shirts; stores in front charged 100HKD for 5 shirts but in other stores you can get 8 shirts for100HKD—same quality.
  4. Read about HK’s customs and tradition—so that you won’t get shocked when you get there. There really is a difference in their and our culture.
  5. Download Discover Hong Kong apps produced by the Hong Kong Tourism Board and MTR app to guide you in all your travels.
