To the sunny island: Singapura Day 2

By kweneeeta - 9:51 AM

Today's plan is to do a walking tour around the Colonial center in Singapore. I will be doing a lot of walking so I have to dress up appropriately and comfortably. I took residence in my friends house which is conveniently located near a train station.

We started the day with a very nice breakfast prepared by her mom--it was chicken and rice. Not the normal chicken and rice we have in the Philippines. It has a Malay taste to it. I can't fully describe the meal, nevertheless, it was sumptuous.

We took the SMRT to City Hall station. From there, we started our DIY walking tour. First stop was the St. Andrew's Cathedral which is an Anglican cathedral and the largest cathedral in the whole of Singapore.

Next we headed towards the Asian Civilizations Museum. Along the way, we passed by the old Fire Station and a very colorful building which I can't remember the name.

The Asian Civilization's Museum is one of the four museums in Singapore. The museum showcases the history of various Asian countries--through a collection of artifacts--wherein Singapore traces its ancestry. Admission is FREE and is open from 10:00am to 7:00pm. During my visit, the museum was under renovation hence, no photo of the facade.

We continued on with our walking tour. We took pictures at the Cavanagh Bridge, the Fullerton Hotel, and the hawker center at the Boat Quay.

While the Hawker Center at Boat Quay was readily accessible for us to have our meal, we preferred going to Maxwell Hawker Center where the food is cheaper. From Boat Quay, we took a bus going towards Chinatown.

After having lunch, we explored Chinatown. I wasn't able to take pictures in the temples since it is not allowed. We visited temples and did a little shopping at the flea market. Then, we took the SMRT again. Now, we're headed to the National Museum of Singapore.
